Problem Solvers Back MOBILE Health Care Act
As the U.S. nears 50 million confirmed COVID cases and confronts the Omicron variant, the House Problem Solvers Caucus is taking action to improve response at the community level.
On Tuesday, the caucus officially endorsed the Maximizing Outcomes through Better Investments in Lifesaving Equipment for (MOBILE) Health Care Act, which would allow for greater flexibility for grants awarded to community health centers so they can use funds to meet their specific needs and improve care delivery.
Community health centers serve more than 25 million Americans in nearly 10,000 communities, and their caseload has grown in recent years. In 2015, 71% of health center patients had incomes below the federal poverty level.
The bill is sponsored in the House by Caucus member Rep. Susie Lee (D-NV), who brought it to the Caucus for consideration along with Rep. Jamie Herrera Beutler (R-WA).
Even as Washington continues to be consumed by partisanship and fighting over the one-party Build Back Better Act, this is a great example of the important bipartisan work that is still happening.
Caucus Co-chair Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) said, “This bipartisan bill will allow community health centers to expand mobile health units and access to care for patients living in hard to reach and underserved areas.”
Said Lee, “[This bill] will ensure that more Americans, no matter where they live, will receive the healthcare they deserve. I am so proud that this commonsense legislation…has received the endorsement of the Problem Solvers Caucus.”
